The van culture of the 70s is not all that different today as it was then. All over the world people were meeting up to hang out and work on making their van an extension of themselves. From simple customizations to well-thought out intricate themes, each van is unique and represents the person who owns it.

Vanners are very special people. We attend cruise nights, car shows, parades, and basically any event that sounds like a good excuse to get together. The best event for any vanner is to attend a van event called a “van run” or “truck-in”. These events are typically multiple day camp outs with other vanners who could be local, or from other states, or even other countries away.

When we attend van runs we don’t just sit around and hang out in our vans (although we do that too). These events include bands playing at night, games for kids and adults to compete in, vendors selling merchandise, a van show to compete for trophies, and walking around meeting other vanners and seeing their amazing vans. It is a much needed break away from everyday life.

The Upstate Vanners have members from all over New York State but we are based in the Binghamton, NY area. You might be wondering what it takes to be a member of Upstate Vanners. Do you own a van? Well, that’s step one and we’d love to meet you!
